A New Generation

Ahmed walked slowly down the road. Where was he going? He had no idea. There was chaos and commotion all around him yet he was in his own world surrounded by his thoughts. His father and brother had died a week ago. And now…now he slowly walked away from the hospital where his mother had just died in his arms. She had not received any attention from the doctors…They were all busy…too many people in the hospital and very few doctors.

He couldn’t blame them though, and he didn’t.
“When there is no one around, you can only trust in Allah and depend on him, but do your part, we all have parts…and if you don’t do your part; who do you think will do it for you?” His grandfather had been a source of wisdom and inspiration for him. ‘Had been’ he had died less than a year ago. "Ahmed, your generation, is the future generation. This is our land, our property and we must have the dignity to take it back.” How? How?

‘I’m just one person. What can I do?”

He sighed and sat on a chair inside what was left from their home. What could he do?
