Imam ibn al-Jawzi رحمه الله was once asked:
"Is it better for me to make Tasbeeh (praise Allah 'Subhanallah') or to make Istighfaar (seek forgiveness 'astaghfirullah')?"
He replied:
"The dirty robe is more in need of soap than perfume"
